A name to trust
 Strand
Book Stall owes its name to Strand Cinema, where it started
as a kiosk over fifty years ago. Founded by T N Shanbaug,
the kiosk then expanded into a full fledged store situated at Sir
P M Road in Fort area, under the same name. "Jayaprakash Narayan,
Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, industrialists, J R D Tata, G D
Birla, Aditya Birla, Ambalal Sarabhai, Keshub Mahindra, Adi Godrej,
Nani Palkhivala and many prominent politicians patronised our store,"
says T N Shanbaug, the owner of Strand Book Stall.
 The
store stocks the latest collection of books on architecture, art,
biographies, children's books, classics, cookery, computer, drama,
ecology, fiction, film, gardening, health, humour, management, painting,
philosophy, among others."We are not just a business organisation,
but driven by idealism and an extremely reader-friendly attitude
throughout the years. Our book prices are surprisingly low when
compared to other book stores," he adds. The store has a branch
in Bangalore at Dickenson Road, managed by Shanbaug's daughter Vidya
Virkar.
 Strand
also has a user-friendly website, strandbookstall.com,
from which customers can order books by post or courier. Delivering
the order might take between 4-6 working days after receipt of payment.
