Ways
of moving ahead
Mumbaibest in conversation with CTO Hemant Adarkar
Hemant Adarkar, Chief
Technical Officer (CTO) , Ways India Limited, is all set
to change the way transactions are done by mobile users, with Ways'
new product, Mobile Electronic Signatures. A Ph.D. in Nuclear
Physics from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, TIFR, Hemant
was the first person to join Ways India Limited, Country
Head Office, at Vashi, Navi Mumbai. Hemant talks to Mumbaibest
about Ways vision of becoming the "e-Business Enabler of the
Future."
On their new product, Mobile Electronic Signatures.
Mobile Electronic Signatures is a new concept for the Indian
consumer and Ways is the first Indian company to be a member
of the Mobile Electronic Signatures Consortium. The Consortium provides
a protocol of guidelines which simplifies the day to day transactions
of mobile friendly users. This protocol is a standardised interface
defining communications between the Mobile Operator and a Service
Provider, say for example, a transaction between a merchant and
a bank. It is an end -to-end service provider and we are aiming
for the development of a standard accepted worldwide.
How is it different from other mobile applications ?
Being a member of the Consortium our
aim is to integrate the Indian mobile users into the e-Commerce
world, enabling the implementation of legally effective business
processes. At Ways, our objective is to establish and develop
a secure cross-application, non-repudiation infrastructure for the
deployment of mobile users. This device, when used, will reduce
the complexity of online applications in e-commerce paving the way
for secure mobile commerce in the near future
What steps are being taken to reach the desired clientele
?
We are in constant touch with mobile
service providers and banks. The mobile service providers are the
major database for expanding our business and reaching out to potential
customers. Negotiations are on with banks, they have promised to
join with us and have assured us of their best services. We are
also advertising our product through the media. We have already
made a sound presence in major newspapers, and national and international
television channels. Ways has tied up with call
centres to provide information in case of incoming queries regarding
the new product. So, geographical boundaries will not be a problem.
Anyone from any where in the world can get information about our
product.
