  Bollywood is Growing UP!

The tinsel town has a new fad to boast of. With the new wave of 'Hinglish' cinema, Bollywood is finally growing up and experimenting with maturity. It is ready to discuss topics never spoken about before, hence turning sensitive and adult.

With the recent liberalization of the Television, the viewer has become extremely selective, his horizon has expanded and a platter full of things to watch is only a remote away. Besides, 2002 was one of Bollywood's worst years, with most of the movies flopping one after the other, it made about Rs. 1,000 crores and lost out on 400 crores.Except for the stars, everyone is losing money and the money involved here is big.

The conventional attributes of Bollywood films have given way to this fresh breed of 'sit-up-and-think' cinema breaking away from the routine running-around-the-trees formula and the same sloppy love stories, we have a thinking audience now who is ready for some experimental yet message cinema.
This new age cinema is the Hinglish (Hindi+English) one targeting largely the urban elite with predominance on English. Taboo subjects are dealt with openly; spoken and featured about, tales of Incest, Homosexuality and Religious violence are out in the open, breaking restrictions of bedroom barricades.

This new genre of movies has formed a niche in itself, the low-cost production movies that finish early and break away the usual norms of Bollywood style are on to become a rage now.
Films like 'Mr. and Mrs. Iyer', 'Everybody says I'm fine', 'Fire', 'Earth' are only a few to mention. 2003 will see about 15 Hinglish movies release.

So, watch out for some exciting and meaningful movies.
Bollywood is finally coming of age…Better late than never!
