WATER PARK
Suraj
Water Park has a lot of interesting avenues to offer that you
would not associate with your normal water park. It is featured
in the Limca Book of records for the largest man-made fibre cave
measuring 103 feet in length. Spread over 17 acres of land, the
park also has two museums - the Museum of Fountains and the more
interesting Museum of Locks. The latter has a rare collection of
1600 handmade antique locks and keys used in havelis, ancestral
houses and treasure boxes. There is also a traditional haveli
with antique windows, Gokhala, a courtyard and khats.
The
entrance to the park is marked by huge mermaids and there is also
a statue of Lord Shiva, with Ganga and water slides originating
from his hair-locks! In addition, you will find a wave pool, a Crazy
River, a Lazy River, and slides named Ding-Dong, Sing-a-Song, Labak,
Zabak (100 feet high and 300 feet long), Matak and Nanha Tal (for
children). The park is situated in the green Ghodbunder Road, and
is 8 kms from Thane and 15 kms from Borivili. A buffet lunch and
the restaurant Pagoda operate within the premises.

NISHILAND WATER PARK
Sprawled over 55 acres, Nishiland Water Park is located
below the
Sahyadris, before Khopoli on the Mumbai-Pune highway. It is basically
a water park that also offers some of the attractions of an amusement
park. There are many serpentine slides, a specially designed Doom
Slide with a Mushroom Fall, a long meandering Lazy River and a large
wave pool. The wave pool is capable of creating six different types
of waves. Children have their own interactive Playpool. Nishiland
also has a lake with boating facilities. The amusement park side
of the deal has so far seven rides to offer. There are virtual reality
and other interactive games in the video arcade. The park does not
offer facilities for overnight stay.

TIKUJI-NI-WADI
Tikuji
ni Wadi Visamo is a resort cum water park located just half
an hour from Thane station and about 40 kms from the heart of Mumbai
city. Set in the green environs of Manpada Chitalsar, the ‘Family
Theme Park’ has been the preferred getaway for many for almost two
decades. The thrills for kids are supplied by rides like Dashing
Cars, Columbus, Mini Train, Frog Ride, Giant Wheel, Caterpillar,
Tora-Tora, Tidal Wave (the battery-operated bumper boats for kids),
Merry go rounds, battery-operated cars, Moon walker, Ball pool,
etc. Adults can go for the Bumper boats, imported from the United
States and powered by 4-stroke engines, or the Go-Karts fitted with
5.5 HP Honda Engines over a half a kilometre long. The Ocean park
has giant slides (upto 25 mts high and 380 feet long), a Wave pool,
slides for kids, Lazy River, etc. There is a restaurant that serves
pure vegetarian food. You can go for the lunch or even the snacks
buffet. If you wish to stay over, there are self contained air-conditioned
cottages. Other attractions include landscaped gardens, cafeterias,
the Madira Ghar that serves cocktails and beverages and the Shiv
Mandir.

THE GREAT ESCAPE
Sprawled over 25 acres, The Great Escape is a presentation
of Arihant
Industrial Corporation, one of India’s largest manufacturers of
playground and water park equipment. Located 16 kms from Virar,
it offers as many as 13 slides. The slides include the benign Aqua
trial to slides that touch 40 feet in height. Some of the water
park attractions are the Typhoon tunnel, Aqua Bowl, Lazy river,
the Cascade waterfall, Thunder cruise, Kiddies pool and the dry
slide. There is also a play area for kids, boating facilities and
a skating rink. In house is a multi-cuisine restaurant that serves
Chinese, Punjabi and South Indian food. Not to mention, the Devil’s
Den a discotheque. Other facilities include table tennis, chess
and video games. The Great Escape offers attractive membership schemes
also.

WATER KINGDOM
Set
adjacent to Esselworld, Water Kingdom is Asia’s largest theme water
park. Located in Gorai, across the creek from Borivili and Malad,
it offers some of the best facilities in the city. The big idea
here is Wetatlantic, one of the largest wave pools in the world.
Other attractions include the Jungle Beach, Cythan music played
on Bose speakers, the Baywatch Tower and the Love Boat. For children
there are rides like Turbo Thriller, Turbo Wurbo, Tangy Wangy, Turbo
Terminator, Lemon Drops and Juicy Jammer. They can hang out in the
Brat Zone or go for the button operated games. For the entire family,
there is the Kobra Maze, Mama Mia, the family spa, Gang-A-Fall and
the Coco Beach. For adults there are rides like Rushin Gushing,
a 4 second ride over 180 feet, Hamunga Kowabunga, Bobble Boggie
and Rafia Fafia. Also check out Black Demon, a pitch dark tunnel
where you meet the crocodile, a drifting river, Goofers Lagoon,
Adventures Amazonia with the laughing Buddha and the bearded Old
Man, a Serpent safari, an Elephant safari, with huge sculptures
of elephants and the Rock 'n' Rock safari. Water Kingdom also has
branches of some of the better restaurants in Mumbai within the
park. they include Kailash Parbat for chaat, Sunders for south Indian
food, Gourmet street for Chinese and Continental, Fun Sip for snacks
and McDonalds.
