'LOOKS' LIKE ME !
A Series of Articles on Beauty-Within and Without
'I need not be Madonna or Shabana, I am beautiful the way I
am.' This is the golden rule of looking and feeling beautiful.
The aesthetic appeal of an individual is unique to every person.
And the art of make-up is not a question
of altering the way one looks or trying to look like somebody else!
Look like your self! Look like, how you 'feel' and look like
the way you 'are'!
We at Mumbaibest.com plan to guide you to the superhighway of beauty
within and without. To begin with we have for you a basic introduction
to the different types of skins. Later on we shall tackle issues
that relate to skin problems after which you will be introduced
to all the aspects of beauty from within and without. Who say's
beauty is skin deep? We're here to prove them all wrong!
There are no universal golden rules of beauty. What may suit one
may not suit another. So, select your beautician with utmost care.
For, every beautician is enthusiastic to copy the wackiest hair
style or apply the most ridiculously defined beauty treatment on
you, of course with no fowl intentions! The result--You will not
look like yourself and feel terribly uncomfortable. So select an
intelligent beautician or better still use of that style what suits
you and then adept it to your own style. Don't copy but interpret,
get-ideas so that, while being 'in-fashion' you have your
own style.
Know Your Skin
There are three types of skins:
1] Normal Skin: This type of skin is rarely found. It can
be distinguished by an epidermis i.e. an outer layer of which the
degree of acidity is normal and constant.
Skin Care: At night, remove your make-up with a good cream
or a liquid cleanser. In the morning, freshen-up your skin with
a good tonic after washing it and the smooth on a nourishing cream
for an hour. Finally cleanse it with a
skin tonics. In winter , use a nourishing cream slightly more greasy
than the usual cream you use.
2] Dry Skin: Characterized with too much of acidity, delicate
and liable to premature wrinkles.
Skin Care: At night,Remove your make-up with a beauty lotion
with lanolin base. Next wipe over with a nonalcoholic moisturizer,
finally wash it with cool water. In the morning use the same mild
skin tonic, then put on a nourishing cream of a well reputed company.
Leave it on for half an hour and remove it with a skin tonic. You
could use a powder base which can be a cream (moisturizing and preferably
vitaminised with orange,or sweet almond oil) or a tinted liquid
foundation. Leave for ten minutes and finally dab on your face a
cleansing tissue and put on your make-up. For a deep cleansing of
the skin you could use "steam treatments" instead of astringents.
It is ideally done once a month.
3] Greasy Skin: Alkaline, it suffers from enlarged pores
and often blackheads.. Liable to acne and pimply.
Skin Care: At night, remove your make-up with a cream or
a liquid make-up remover and cleanse it with an astringent, which
will close the enlarged pores. Finally wash with warm water and
non-alkaline soap. In the morning, Freshen up your skin with a tonic
having spirit in it;s contents, after having washed. Then apply
a nourishing cream for about a quarter of an hour and then remove
the cream with an astringent. Experts are of the opinion that make-up
should be applied by first using a tinted liquid foundation rather
than a cream or even powder.
In the next article we shall take a look at the general skin
problems.
