Sheetal - a class apart
Store blossoms with Hemant Trivedi at the helm
Sheetal:
a class apart from other city stores. The huge store has a
wide range of products to offer. From being an exclusive saree shop,
Sheetal has diversified into garments, specializing in children's
wear, women's wear and men's wear. To call it a family shop would
be apt. If you have a wedding in the family, Sheetal is the
place to go for your garment needs.
" One has to keep pace with the changing times and it
was because of this that we decided to give Sheetal a new look"
says Lopa Shah, in charge of marketing and advertising. "We
were the first to showcase merchandise in a very attractive manner.
It is this look which others have picked up from us over the period
of time. "
In
the year 1989, Sheetal took in ace fashion designer Hemant Trivedi
as their in-house designer. Following this, Sheetal witnessed
a major transformation. From being considered a downmarket store,
it emerged as the leader in the market. With the support of the
Shah brothers, Dhiren Shah and Bachubhai Shah, who
own the store, and with Hemant's ideas and designs, Sheetal has
emerged as one of the topmost fashion stores in Mumbai.
It was a very slow and steady growth and a team effort which enabled
Sheetal to reach this position today . In terms of advertising,
it was the Shah's who were the first to shoot at foreign locales
with foreign models and this greatly captured the imagination of
the people. The in-house design store is an added attraction for
it provides customised service to its clients from a bridal trousseau
to salwar kameez and even mens wear. Embroidery of every kind can
be obtained along with various embellishments .
Recently Manish Malhotra, one of the better known designers
of tinsel town, also joined Sheetal . Sheetal caters
to the entire cross section of the society from the lower middle
class to the NRIs and residents of the gulf . With three stores
spread across Mumbai, Sheetal has come to be reckoned as
a landmark .
