ve to be innovative as well as keep a close watch on the
quality. Today the consumer has good number of options to choose
from and now the benchmark will be of quality products. Though we
are expecting a large amount of inflow of goods and products, we
should see that there should not be any kind of dumping," said,
Sushil Dungarwal, Chief of Staff, Haiko Supermarket.
In the next couple of months, a significant part of the markets
will be covered, which will in a way effect the indigenous market.
Now the retailers will have a huge range of merchandise to play
with, which will transform the market like never before. "Only
3% of imported merchandise was available in our outlet, but with
QR being lifted, we are hoping to spare 20 % of our space to imported
goods and products, that too by the end of this year. Though it
seems, that the supermarkets are gaining, but in reality, it is
the consumer, who is spending money in order to sell his product.
At the end of the day, what we earn is not even 4 - 5 %, as for
any super market guy, the overhead expenses are every high compared
to any local grocer," added Dungarwal.
