Go Vegetarian
Animals have something to celebrate about. Vegetarianism is in.
* Vegetarians have a lower average blood cholesterol and therefore
a reduced risk of coronary artery disease.
* They have lower risk of obesity and suffer fewer digestive problems
compared to non-vegetarians.
* Their risk of adult diabetes and gallstones is reduced.
* They have a lower risk of some cancers, especially of the colon,
breast and lung.
* They are at a lower risk of osteoporosis.
Veggie food groups
* Vegetables
* Whole grains - bread, pasta, hot or cold cereal, corn, millet.
* Fruits
* Legumes like beans, peas and lentils.
Fruit passion
* Mangoes are extra rich in beta carotene, which together with
vitamin C is known to strengthen the human immune system.
* Guavas are rich in Vitamin C.
* Papayas are a cure for hangovers. When used externally, the flesh
of the fruit is said to alleviate insect bites.
* Pineapples contain manganese, which strengthen the bones.
* Grapefruits contain tarpon and pectin, which lower cholesterol
count. Pink grapefruit contain extra large amounts of cell strengthening
antioxidants.
Eating fruits
* Eat fruits raw. At about 40 degrees Celsius, they lose their
effect.
* Do not let fruits lie in water for long.
* Never cut fresh fruit into very small pieces.
* Do not allow fresh fruit salad to stand around after chopping.
A banana chopped into small pieces loses about 10% vitamin C after
5 minutes and over 30% after two hours.
