WILLIGDON
SPORTS CLUB
The
Willigdon Sports Club, which was established in 1917, is one of
the most exclusive clubs in Mumbai. The golf course of the Willigdon
Club is open only for members and their guests. Membership to the
club is by invitation only. The18-hole golf course is spread over
60 acres and is centrally located near Haji Ali. The charges for
a round of golf are Rs. 700/- for weekends and Rs. 500/- for weekdays.
The Willigdon Sports Club also organises the occasional golf tournament.

THE ROYAL PALMS GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
The
Royal Palms Golf and Country Club is the latest entrant to the golf
scene in the city. The Royal Palms is located in one of the greenest
areas in the city – the Aarey Milk colony at Goregaon. It sports
an 18-hole championship course spread over 100 acres. The course
has been designed by Phil Ryan from the Pacific Course Design (Australia)
and constructed by L & M Fairways Pvt Ltd, Singapore. The master
plan was conceived by Wimberley, Allison, Tong and Goo of London,
the team behind the Lost Palace in Sun City, South Africa. The grass
has been specially grafted and imported from Malaysia. Three man-made
lakes add to the landscape. The club also has various clubhouse
restaurants to offer - The Verandah Cafe, Gourmet Symphony and The
Grill Room & The 19th Hole Bar. Other attractions at The Royal
Palms Golf and Country Club include a clubhouse bar, swimming pool,
card room, squash courts, badminton courts, health club with sauna
and steam, a jacuzzi, and a well-equipped gymnasium with personal
trainers and masseurs.

UNITED
SERVICES CLUB
The
United Services Club is run jointly by the army, the navy and the
air force. The club is also open to civilian members. The club has
an 18-hole, par-70 golf course. The course is 6072 yards long, with
a course rating of 68.4. It is open to members and their guests.
Non-member golfers are welcome on the course as long as they are
members of the Indian Golfing Union, or can present a handicap certificate.
The club's coaching programme for beginners has two coaches -- Ajay
Chitlekar and Ankush Muknath. Charges are Rs 500/- for non-IGU members
on weekends and Rs 400/- on weekdays. For IGU members, the charges
are Rs. 400/- on weekends and Rs. 300 on weekdays. There is a practice-driving
range, which charges Rs 200/- for 45 minutes.

BOMBAY
PRESIDENCY GOLF CLUB
The Bombay Presidency Golf Club, located in the eastern suburb
of Chembur, is a 18 hole par 70 course that is playable throughout
the year. It has one of the best greens in the city and has been
the venue of major tournaments. The Clubhouse of the Bombay Presidency
Golf Club includes an air-conditioned restaurant, swimming pool,
gymnasium, party room, banquet hall, residential rooms and a couple
of bars.
