Rony
Alvaris
a promising footballer
13-year-old
right-forward Rony Alvaris may be shy and hesitant in his disposition,
but once on the soccer field, he cannot fail to grab attention.
On the field, his enthusiasm and fighting spirit are always on display.
He has speed, stamina and an incredible array of shots in his arsenal.
Even if the chips are down, he will not hesitate to fight and give
his best shot for his team.
Rony scored seven goals in all for his school St. Blaise, Amboli
in the recently concluded MSSA-Colgate inter-school Football
Tournament in the under-14 category at Azad Maidan. However,
his team failed to win the final match against Udayachal when they
lost 0-3.
Rony,
who is 4 feet, 9 inches tall, plays basketball in his spare time
and also wants to learn swimming to increase his height. He was
inspired by his elder brother, Richard, who is a std XII student
and plays football for St Andrews College, Bandra. Rony watched
the Sydney Olympics held in Australia with great enthusiasm. Like
any other youngster, Rony has a fetish for perk, cornetto ice-cream
and pepsi. His favourite soccer star is Ronaldo.
Rony enjoys reading history and admires legendary figures like
Shivaji and Babasaheb Ambedkar. He practices his game every morning,
from 6.30 am to 7.30 am under the supervision of coach, Juzino Peris.
Rony is an ambitious youngster who wants to work hard and realise
his dream of playing at the higher level.
