Mountain Toy Train
If you are looking for a cool weekend getaway, Matheran is the ideal
place for you. At a distance of only 108 kms, the hill station is
2,635 feet above sea level. The convenient way to get to Matheran
is to take any of the local trains for Karjat from C.S.T. and get
off at Neral in about 2 hours. From there, board a Narrow Gauge
Mountain Toy Train to the ghats of Matheran. The pleasure
trip starts from here, when the train lazily chugs its way up the
mountain and you are treated to some unbelievably breathtaking scenery.
This is one train journey you hope will never end.
