ArtWorks
launches 'The Art Club'
The Art Club will be a new force to reckon with in Mumbai.
With its establishment, art will step off its fancy pedestal to
become a living, breathing
entity. The Mumbai based Art Management Consultancy 'Art Works,'
which provides specialised services in aid of contemporary art and
artists, in association with The Olive Bar & Kitchen
announced the institution of 'The Art Club,' an innovative concept,
aimed at fostering art awareness in an unique and stylish setting.
Initiated in 1998 by Anupa Mehta, ArtWorks is a professionally
run company, which provides an entire palette of specialised bridge
services in aid of contemporary art and artists. Over the past few
years, ArtWorks has conceptualized, organized and provided a host
of complementary services to a range of clients such as RPG Enterprise,
Sothebys - UK, Synergy Art Foundation, Jindal Art Foundation, Jehangir
Nicholson Collection, Multiple Sclerosis Society of India and Western
Railway, amongst others.
The Art Club aspires to be a place, where enthusiasts and collectors
can view
art up close without having to worry about the 'intimidation factor'.
This club would hold interactive cocktail evenings and balmy Sunday
brunches to nudge the fun back into art. Jargon free slide-talks,
one-on-one meetings with painters, art tours, special shows, guided
gallery hopping evenings and regular updates on art events, etc,
via an exclusive newsletter are the additional privileges that an
art club member can enjoy. The Art Club events will be held at The
Olive Bar & Kitchen and a few galleries like The Fine Art Company
and Sakshi Gallery.
"Art Club was born, essentially out of the need for clear,
jargon- free
information. It is an effort to broaden the art circle and promote
art, artists and interaction between like-minded people. Art is
just one more avenue that can allow us to rejuvenate our energies
and foster creativity," says Anupa Mehta, CEO, ArtWorks.
A D Singh, partner, The Olive Bar & Kitchen believes, "There
is a growing interest in art and The Art Club will help make art
more accessible and understandable. The Olive Bar & Kitchen
is already a popular, comfortable space and we feel we can be a
welcome bridge to the world of art." The Olive Bar &
Kitchen was launched in October 2000 and is home to the best of
new Mediterranean cuisine. Olive is Mumbai's rustic beach hideaway,
where food, drink and relaxation come together.
Membership to The Art Club would be Rs 5000/- for a couple, Rs
3500/- for singles and corporate membership of Rs 10,000/-, valid
for four persons. This membership entitles one to privileges such
as 10% discount on purchases made at partner galleries across India
like Apparao Gallery in Chennai, Gallery Khemould, Sakshi Gallery
& Fine Art Company in Mumbai, free access to all events held
by Art Club throughout the year, access to like minded art enthusiasts
and special introductions and viewing of art amongst others.
