CHEMBUR INDIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION FILM CLUB
An unlikely suspect for a film society. The Chembur I M A Film
Club has been established with the intention of exposing children
to a different kind of cinema than what they have been used to.
The idea is entertainment that is healthy. It has been inspired
by the Kandivili Medical Association Film Circle. The screenings
are held in New Vijay theatre, Chembur at 9:30 am on the
third Sunday of every month. The first film screened on the 30th
of July, 2000 was a sell out. The membership fees are Rs 150/- per
annum. The club is a result of a collaboration with the Children’s
Film Society of India. Though aimed at kids, the club encourages
the whole family to attend the screenings. They have many future
plans that include audience interaction with the filmmaker and the
lead players and so on.
