Set up by Arvind Tandon some four years ago, Faraway first started its operations in Australia, and gradually spread its tentacles to south east Asia, Europe, North and South America . Apart from organising foreign vacations, where they operate through ground handlers, a major source of income for Faraway comes via bookings for cruise ships that sail the waters in different parts of the world. The agency handles bookings on behalf of the big players in the market.

Faraway primarily acts as a retailer for the well known Malayasian Cruise company, Star Cruises, which runs the cruise liner Star Virgo in south east Asia. Faraway also makes reservations for other cruises such as Olympic Cruises, Carnival Cruises, and Alaskan Cruises among others.

According to Tandon, Indians have taken to cruising in a big way. An all encompassing experience, a holiday on board a cruise ship is unlike any other holiday.
